“Math!” they declared with much zeal
But when I tried I cringed and reeled.
“Geography!” Was next their cry,
I took one look and gave up with a sigh.
Next it was “Save the environment!”
But the earth told me it was not a requirement.
“History!” They purposed and I was intrigued,
The information was astounding but I became fatigued.
“Sewing,” “cooking,” and “breathing” followed,
All failed, air was too hard to be swallowed.
They scratched their heads and reassured
I was good for something if I endured,
The “yes’s” and “no’s” followed by “I told you so’s.”
Tramping away they told me I’d figure it out some day.
At my wits end I declared,
I was useless and hardly cared.
Then suddenly, with wind and rain,
Thunder and lightning played in my brain.
Then and there, without a moment’s hesitation,
I knew it was not archaeology, painting or vegetation,
No, no my friends!
It was to be writing to whatever means and whatever ends!
Pens and pencils, papers and potential,
Imagination, ink and letters are all essential,
To describe life with words and phrases,
Through whatever twists and phases.
A writer I’ll be, a writer I am.
It won’t be a test or exam,
It’ll be books, words and thought-filled mind.
Don’t you dare worry, I’ll be just fine.
I’ve found my heart and it has many pages,
Telling tales of love, pain and timeless ages.

I realize I have not really told many of you about my book and my more serious writing (by "serious" I mean the writing I plan to get published). So, I shall tell you about how I wrote my first manuscript!
